‘Strike Announcement’  PPTA Rostered Home Strike Schedule

The Raglan Area School Board of Trustees have been advised that Teachers of our school who are members of the Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) union will be operating on a limited rostered strike schedule beginning at 7am on 4 May 2023 and will end at 11.59pm on 8 June 2023.  The rostered strike requires all years 9 – 13 only to be rostered home according to the schedule below.

Students in the named year levels below will not be taught or supervised by PPTA members during the scheduled times below. This includes teaching and supervision of students that would otherwise be undertaken on or away from the School.

Accordingly, due to the number of Teachers of our school who are members of the PPTA union who teach in Kura Tuakana, the Board has carefully considered the availability of these teaching staff, and has decided that our school can NOT provide normal teaching as well as supervision on the scheduled days for the named year levels outlined in the schedule. For clarity, teaching and supervision of other year levels not named in the schedule are not subject to the strike at those times, and will continue as normal.

Accordingly, it is important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children (in particular those under 14 years of age) during their rostered home days below as no teaching or lessons will be provided for the years 9 – 13 for the named year levels outlined in the schedule.

This rostered strike will not affect students who travel by bus to school and the Raglan Area School bus services will continue to run as normal during those times and will not affect Kura Teina.
